Education

 

Mike's tenacity allowed him to pursue a career in IT and attend Purdue University simultaneously. He supplemented his income by tutoring fellow students in mathematics and computer technology. Two years after graduating, Mr. Marr was invited back to teach computer technology. He was re-invited back eight  consecutive semesters (plus a summer session at the end) until he moved away.

Promoted to Lead Architect for HP Services IM Division in spring of 2005 after being promoted to Business Intelligence (BI) Architect within the same division in autumn of 2004. Originally joined HPs printer division as Operational Architect for the planning team. Promoted twice within seven months then downsized after new CEO cut 30% of IT/IM. Offered road warrior position but I declined.

Developed ad hoc reporting system for health care utilization analysis. Designed, coded, and tested programs and procedures for aforementioned system. Mentored new DP professionals. Taught SAS.

                United Student Aid Funds (now Fannie Mae)                
Engagement: September 1991 to November 1992
Led highly technical projects for student loan processing. Redesigned Loan History System to circumvent the VSAM ESDS four (4) gigabyte RBA limitation. Implemented NaperSoft's Document Generation System. Designed, coded, and tested common I/O modules for both previously mentioned systems. Piloted Verify implementation. Project Leader and Designer for Returned Mail System (RMS). Designed, coded, and tested new CICS applications. Programmed and installed bar code scanners for RMS. Maintained COBOL and ALC CICS modules for existing systems. Designed, coded, and tested database conversion programs.
